Riyadh Airport is the main airport of The Kingdom of Saudia Arabia. Formerly known as the largest airport in the world in terms of ground area, the land area allocated for King Khalid International Airport is the second largest in the world, after King Fahd International Airport. The airport is managed and operated by Riyadh Airports Company. The main concern that Bluestream tackled efficiently was waste management at the airport, by implementing efficient and sustainable waste management methods. Here, long-term product durability with low maintenance was the major goal. Successful airport waste management implementation can drastically have a positive impact on the surrounding community at whole and the look and feel of the environment passengers operate in, airport authorities and staff. Bluestream suggested that it’s crucial to have recycling bins that provide adequate waste segregation and, as a result, efficient recycling.
The 3 stream recycling bins and single stream bins are manufactured by Bluestream and delivered more than 2000 items to Riyadh Airport after the conceptualizing, designing, producing stages are complete. The design involves 3 stream recycling bins and single stream bins which are crucial in the segregation of waste and thus ensure effective recycling of waste material. One of the main goals of airport planning is to improve waste reduction, recycling, and reuse programs. The stainless steel 3stream Recycle Bin for collection of recyclable waste like Plastic, Bottle and Cans is made of stainless steel. Both ends half round shaped for aesthetic look. 3 individual inner liner containers made of hot dip galvanized steel. Bright stickers are placed indicating the waste like Paper, Bottle and Cans are affixed to facilitate proper segregated collection of recyclable waste.
According to the corporation, the city is at present seeing the swift growth of its urban regions, which poses significant ecological issues because population growth leads to significant increases in garbage creation. Through trash prevention, reuse, and recycling, the customized bins approach will seek to reduce or limit the risk of negative effects from waste produced inside the airport.
Implementing the approach is anticipated to improve resource efficiency while diverting growing volumes of garbage from landfills.
